Eclipse Ireland are delighted to be able to offer a very exciting course: "Introduction to BHS stage 1" with a qualified BHS AI instructor.

BHS stage 1 is a qualification where candidates must understand the basic principles of horse care and, working under supervision, be able to safely and efficiently undertake routine daily tasks involving horses in the stable and at grass. This qualification will offer the learner a sound foundation which will provide them with the knowledge and skills to progress into employment and future learning and development. Over 5 days, students will have the possibility to acquire the theorical and practical knowledge necessary to take your BHS stage 1 exam (exam not included). 

- Brushing off horses including putting on and taking off equipment, recognising and properly adjusting equipment.
- Horse Husbandry, Identification and Handling: safety and efficiency
- Principles of Caring for Horses: recognise signs of good or ill health, know how to properly feed and water horses and ponies
- Riding in a secure and balanced position, with or without stirrups, showing an understanding of the natural aids.

The next course will run every afternoon from 2nd to 6th of January. 

Possibility to combine with Christmas Pony Camp. On-site accommodation available. Bring your own horse if you want!
